John McFarland

Partner Psychologist

John is a trained Occupational Psychologist with over 12 years experience in the areas of management development, executive assessment and organisational talent programmes.

He has been a self-employed consultant for over 5 years, working with major global consultancies such as SHL, Penna and JCA. Prior to this, John was Recruitment and Training Manager at Barclays and his earlier career includes roles at Barkers Norman Broadbent and KPMG. His areas of expertise include the design and development of competency frameworks, the delivery of executive assessments and management development programmes, as well as the design and delivery of training courses such as recruitment training and appraisal workshops. He is accredited in the use of a range of psychometric and psychological tools including ability tests, OPQ, Wave and MBTI.

He has worked with a range of businesses to assist them to identify and develop the talent within their organisations, from assessing and building graduate and junior management teams, through to executive assessment, feedback and coaching. Such work has provided John with the opportunity to work on client sites around the world, such as Coca-Cola in Atlanta, United Nations in Rome, Munich Re in various locations across Germany and Saudi Telecom in Riyadh.

In the UK, he has worked with a range of blue chip and public sector clients on various development, recruitment and training initiatives. Examples of such work include:

  • Executive and Senior Management assessment, feedback and coaching at Coca-Cola, DHL, Heineken, Hertz, HSBC, Ramboll, Smith & Nephew, STC and Volvo.
  • Graduate and Middle Management programmes at Transport for London, Transdev, Charterhouse, Lloyds Banking Group, Department for Education, Department for Communities and Local Government, Natural History Museum and Vorwerk
  • Training workshops at Barclays, Tfl, Medical Protection Society and Lancaster University
